Popular, Inc., a financial services conglomerate that has operated as “Banco Popular” in Puerto Rico for over 125 years and as “Popular Bank” in the mainland United States for over 52 years , contracted Magnum Opus Architecture to manage their Retail Branch development plans for the Northeast sector. Baxter Avenue was an existing branch that required a re-fresh in accordance with the Client’s newly developed prototype design. The client also wished to have a more pronounced entrance that would be in view of the neighboring elevated subway line. MOA proposed a 2-story lobby addition to the existing structure, a new façade treatment as well as interior alterations. The branch was an operating branch that could not be closed down during construction, so a phased construction plan was created by MOA to achieve this task.
