Intro

Silvercup Studios EAST is the satellite location of one of New York City’s largest film and television production facilities.

The client was experiencing water infiltration through the exterior wall.  Through investigation, it was confirmed that the defective mix of the mortar joints were the cause of the leaks.  The existing tenants could not work while a repointing operation was in progress.  For this reason, we recommended curing the issue with a water barrier coating specialized for masonry use.  Three mock -ups of different coatings were tested prior to the broad application.
